Because my blog is visited from all over the world, I wrote my first English blogpost! I hope you will enjoy my free crochet pattern of this cute dreamy monkey wearing a warm sweater with a turtleneck. I call him Monkey Martin.

Cut the yarn,

shut using the tail.
Crochet the turtleneck of the sweater. Hold the monkey (head andbody) in a way the head is up and the body is down. Start to crochet in the front loops of round 35 (border between head and sweater) at the back of the body.

Finish with a sl.st. Cut
the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing, and fasten off. Sew the turtleneck with a few stitches to the body with the yarn tail.
Eyes
The eyes exist of a cream coloured part bestaand and of black pupils. The cream coloured part is made up of two circles. Start with the first circle. Use cream coloured yarn. Crochet in rounds.

Crochet the second circle.

4. crochet 17sc, grab the first circle and crochet further in one of the sc. Crochet 17sc.
Finish with a sl.st. Cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing, and fasten off. Between the circles two sc aren't crocheted during the last round. Optionally you can sew the parts together with the yarn tail if a hole is visible. After that, sew the eyes on the front of the head. The flat part is the front of the head. So the back of the head sticks out to the back. Sew the cream coloured part of the eyes between the 12th and 19th round of the head.
Pupils 2x. Crochet in black.

Finish with a sl.st. Cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing, and fasten off. Sew the pupils in the back loops onto the cream coloured part. Both in the centre of each circle.
Snout
Use cream colour. Crochet in rounds.

7. Crochet a tail of 15 ch, crochet further on in the 6th sc, then crochet the other 21sc (=36sc)
8. to 10. 36sc
11. Crochet 15sc, double fold the lower lip and crochet the edges together with 15sc pulling the crochet hook through two sc at the same time while crocheting a sc.
Cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing, and fasten off.
Inside of the mouth
Crochet with salmon pink. Crochet in rows.
· Crochet a tail of 6ch and start crocheting in the second ch seen from the hook. Crochet 5sc. Turn your crochet work.
· Crochet 1ch and 5sc. Turn your crochet work.
· Crochet 1ch and 5sc. Turn your crochet work.
· Skip the first sc and crochet 4 sc. Turn your crochet work.
· Skip the first sc and crochet 3 sc. Turn your crochet work.
· Skip the first sc and crochet 2 sc.
Cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing, and fasten off. Sew the inside of the mouth onto the back side of the lower lip and the snout. Then sew the snout onto the head. Place the top side of the snout in the centre of the cream coloured part of the eyes. Place the bottom side of the mouth against the 28th round of the head.
Ear (2x)
Crochet in camel brown. Crochet in rounds.

Flatten the ear by pressing it and crochet the edges together with 6sc pulling the crochet hook through two sc at the same time while crocheting a sc. Sew the ear onto the side of the head between the 17th and 22th round of the head.
Leg (2x)
Crochet with cream colour. Crochet in rounds.
1. Crochet a tail of 6ch and start crocheting in the second ch seen from the hook. Crochet in succession 4sc, 3sc in the last ch of the tail, 3sc (around the corner), 2sc in the next stitch (=12sc)
2. 5sc, 3sc in the next sc, 5sc, 3sc in the next sc (=16sc)

Stuff the leg with fiberfill, but fill not entirely. Flatten the top of the leg by pressing and crochet the edges together with 5 or 6sc pulling the crochet hook through two sc at the same time while crocheting a sc. Cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing, and fasten off. Sew the leg onto the bottom of the body.
Arm (2x)
Crochet in camel brown.
Crochet in rounds.

6. In the first sc a popcorn stitch consisting of 5 dc you don't finish entirely (yarn over, insert hook and pick up the yarn, pick up the yarn and pull through two loops). If you do that 5 times you have 6 loops on the hook. Pick up the yarn and pull through all 6 loops. After that 17sc.

Go further with green and blue. Start with green and change colour each time after 2 rounds.

Stuff the arm with fiberfill, but fill not entirely. Flatten the top of the arm by pressing and crochet the edges together with 5 or 6sc pulling the crochet hook through two sc at the same time while crocheting a sc. Cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing, and fasten off. Sew the arm onto the side of the body just above the upper green stripe of the sweater.
Tail
Start with cream colour.
Crochet in rounds.

It's not necessary to stuff the tail. Flatten the top of the tail by pressing and crochet the edges together with 4 or 5sc pulling the crochet hook through two sc at the same time while crocheting a sc. Cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing, and fasten off. Sew the tail onto the back of the body just below the sweater.
